Professor David Wainwright is a Director/Owner of Sociotechnical Design Ltd offering a range of consultancy services to the public and private sectors. Dr David Wainwright is an Emeritus Professor of Information Systems at the Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He is a former President of the UK Association for Information Systems and has over 30 years of experience at both Northumbria and Durham universities researching, teaching and consulting in IS strategy, implementation and adoption. His research projects and major journal publications focus on the development of innovative sociotechnical/material methods using ‘soft operations management’ and process modelling methods aimed at understanding systems complexity, developing new forms of organisational design and enabling digital technology implementation. The impact from this research has resulted in improved facilitation of information systems adoption and implementation both within the public (healthcare information systems in hospitals and primary care) and private (construction management, manufacturing and SMEs) sectors.
